Toshiba P750 Review

Toshiba is well known for going with a sober design when it comes to its products, giving them a somewhat trivial aspect. Don’t let that fool you when it comes to the Satellite P750, as this laptop is anything but trivial. Its design is still sober but elegant, with a glossy frame and a textured line pattern. Considering that this laptop falls into the multimedia category, the design could have been a bit less sober and a bit more friendly but, after all, it’s what’s under the hood that matter the most.

The “engine” of the Toshiba Satellite P750 is a second generation Intel® Core™ i5 -T2410M processor running at 2.30 GHz – a processor that’s not easy to kneel down. Applications run flawlessly thanks to the high amount of processing power and the large amount of RAM, 8 GB to be exact.

A noticeable feature of the Satellite P750 is the discrete graphics card; the GeForce GT540M is a mid-class graphics card which, thanks to its 1 GB of dedicated video memory, deals admirably even with the latest games, assuming you don’t get pretentious and start adjusting the detail levels to their highest settings.

Games are not the only reason for the presence of the GeForce GT540M in the system. The laptop comes with a Blu-ray drive that allows high-definition content to be played and even up-scaled to 3D if a 3D compatible TV is connected via the HDMI port. The GeForce GT540M does the job well thanks to the integrated nVidia Optimus technology and the powerful i5 processor that assists it.

The 640 GB hard drive provides plenty of space if you want to save the content and watch it later and, even though it might not look as good as it does on the big screen, the content will still look decent on the laptop’s 15.6” LED display. The audio side received a special attention from one of the top names in the field – Harman Kardon – so the sound you’ll hear from the Satellite P750 is as good as it gets when it comes to laptop speakers.

A very interesting feature of the P750 laptop is the Sleep-and-Music function which basically allows the laptop to stream music from an external device hooked to the microphone input even when the laptop is in sleeping state. This will prove to be very useful if you want to listen to the music on your MP3-player andthe headphones are just not enough.

When it comes to connectivity, all the common options are there: wireless 802.11 b/g/n adapter for easy networking, Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility for easy syncing with Bluetooth headsets or mobile phones and an USB 3.0 port for quick data transfers.
