Sumvision Cyclone Voyager Review – Simple – Smart – Sumvision

When it comes to budget tablets, Sumvision is a name that pops up quite often here on Dealizon UK. We’re reviewed most of their tablets and none of them let us down so far, therefore we were pretty sure right from the start that the Sumvision Cyclone Voyager won’t the one to break the record. Let’s see if our instincts were right.

The Sumvision Voyager we have on our hands today is the biggest Sumvision tablet available to date, measuring 10.1-inches. Its big size comes with two noticeable advantages: big screen and solid feel. Let’s start with the latter one.

It’s a known fact that budget tablet don’t exactly shine when it comes to build quality, most of them feeling cheap and fragile so we were happy to discover that, despite the fact that the plastic in use is not exactly of premium quality the tablet feels fairly solid and well-built. Weighing 685 grams, the tablet is twice as heavy compared to its little brother we reviewed a while ago, the increased weight also contributing to its overall massive feel.

Size and feel are not the only aspects of this tablet that managed to impress us, though; coming with a 10.1-inch IPS display, the Sumvision Voyager makes Internet browsing and watching movies much more enjoyable experiences. We were glad to see that Sumvision opted for some powerful hardware to ensure the tablet doesn’t choke when you put it to work and their choice was a very wise one – the tablet works like a charm even when you stress it with multitasking and power-hungry applications, indicating that the powerful 1.6GHz dual-core processor, the 1GB of RAM and the Android 4.1 operating system are a successful trio.

A small impediment we came across was the lack of Flash, which is no longer present in Android operating systems starting with the 4.1 version, as a result of the efforts made to boost the adoption of HTML5 and, while this may seem a good choice considering the issues many users faced with Flash content on Android, some sites still use it so you may want it in order for such sites to work correctly. Fortunately, there are couple easy solutions like downloading the Adobe Flash .apk from here or, alternatively, installing the Dolphin browser which has its own Flash plugin, thus allowing you to access Flash-based content on this Sumvision, such as the BBC iPlayer.

Sumvision stood up to our expectations once again, creating a tablet that allows users to enjoy a rich multimedia experience and browse the web in exceptional conditions – all these without ending up with an empty wallet. The Sumvision Cyclone Voyager is big, it’s powerful and it’s incredibly cheap for what it can do – a best-buy.
