It’s big, it’s mean and it’s in 3D – No, we’re not talking about the 3D version of Godzilla here, but rather a TV; a very big TV we might add. In fact, it’s so big that the comparison to Godzilla is not coincidental, because both are truly monstrous things. Meet the 55” Samsung ES6300, the TV that will make you forget the purpose of cinemas. Full HD content, immersive 3D and Internet connectivity – have them all in one place with the Samsung ES6300, now available on directtvs.co.uk for £1,109.98. The next best price at:

Samsung UE55ES6300 Review – Say Goodbye to Cinemas

A 55” TV is one of those things that cannot leave you indifferent; you either love it or hate it – there’s no middle way. Judging by its specs, the 55” Samsung ES6300 should fall in the first category. Let’s see if that’s really the case.

We’ll start with the design and say that, even though it’s stylish and elegant, it lacks that special thing that makes you say “wow” when you see it. It’s big, of course, but there should be something more to catch your eye. That being said, let’s move on to the important part: performance.

While the ES6300 might not impress you while it’s off, turning it on will most likely change that. Image quality is close to perfection, indicating that the Samsung Wide Colour Enhancer Plus image processor really does its job. Full HD content and 3D content are displayed impeccably, the latter having enough depth and fluency to give you the impression that you’re right there in the movie.

A special area that Samsung clearly focused on is the Internet connectivity feature of the ES6300. The connection can be made either via cable or wirelessly, thanks to the integrated Wi-Fi adapter. Browsing around the web is easy and straightforward thanks to Samsung’s online platform, known as Samsung Smart Hub. This platform is especially useful to those people that are not very tech-savvy, as it comes with a friendly and intuitive interface, providing easy access to the most common areas such as social networks or Samsung’s App store. Another nice feature is the Skype support but unfortunately the TV doesn’t come with an integrated camera so you’ll have to buy one separately if you want to enjoy this feature. The lack of an integrated camera comes as a bit of disappointment, considering we’re talking about a top-class TV here.

Other sections such as audio and connectivity have no uncommon features besides the ones you normally find in a TV in this range. Two 10W speakers handle the audio side, doing a good job when it comes to news or sports, but having the classical problem of small speakers – the lack of bass. In terms of connectivity, the TV does its job, coming with all possible connection ports, including DLNA sharing capabilities. This feature is especially useful if you have other DLNA-capable devices in your home and want to easily stream content from them directly on the ES6300.
