With a price tag of only £89.97, this is one of the camera deals you don’t want to miss.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS35 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS35 is your perfect vacation companion; it’s small, fitting in your luggage or even your pocket, and yet powerful enough to make your vacation memories look better than ever.

The camera is equipped with LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR 28-mm wide-angle lens that offer an optical zoom of 8X, allowing you to bring distant objects closer without taking a single step forward. The sensor is a 16.1 megapixel CDD which is more than enough for the needs of a casual user.

An interesting feature is the Extra Optical Zoom feature, which can extent the optical zoom to 18X at the cost of lowering the image quality at 3 megapixels. Keep in mind that we’re talking about 18X genuine optical zoom, right from the lens. If you don’t like the idea of sacrificing a bit of quality for a bit of quantity, you can still use the Intelligent Zoom feature that extends the normal zoom ration at 1.3, providing an actual 10X optical zoom equivalent. Combine all of this with a 4X digital zoom and you can obtain an outstanding 72X total zoom, which is quite impressive for a budget camera.

Speaking of intelligent features, the Panasonic DMC-FS35 has plenty of them. The Intelligent Auto mode is a good way of having all the right settings, at the right time. It combines the ISO auto-adjustment with the face detection, subject tracking, Intelligent Scene Recognition and the Intelligent Exposure to deliver the best combination of settings there is, so whether you’re indoors and have too much light or you’re outside enjoying the sunset, the camera will always have the best settings to take the most accurate photo. If you want to make the settings yourself, you have an ISO range between 100 and 6400 to play with, along with an exposure correction of +/-2 EV, adjustable in 1/3 EV steps.

The camera also has a video recording feature, being capable of recording HD ready content, at a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, with a frame rate of 24 frames per second. Some may find the lack of Full HD 1080p support a bit disappointing but then again, let’s not forget the price of this camera. If you want more, be prepared to pay far more.

The integrated 2.3 inch LCD display has an interesting feature called High Angle mode which extends the viewing angle of the screen. This is especially useful when taking pictures from a crowd, as it still allows you to see the image no screen even if you have the camera held up in your hand, above the crowd, making it a good pick if you plan to take some pictures at a concert.
