Not everybody can afford an iPhone 4S or a Samsung Galaxy S3, but for those who still want some decent performance without blowing their entire budget, LG has the answer: the LG Optimus L3. Currently available on for £44.95, this budget phone packs some interesting specs considering its price.

LG Optimus L3 – Killer Deal or Deal Killer?

A budget phone is not necessarily a bad phone but it won’t be the phone of your dreams either.

The LG Optimus L3 is indeed a budget phone but its specs are more than enough to make the casual user happy. Powered by an 800 MHz processor, the Optimus L3 runs quite fluent. This is also due to the fact that LG opted to use an older version of Android, the 2.3.6 Gingerbread, which may not have all the features of the latest version but at least it gets the job done decently.

The 3.2” display is enough for the casual user that doesn’t have very high demands but it will definitely disappoint pretentious users. Touch response is not the most accurate, the low resolution of 240 by 320 pixels being a potential factor. To put it in perspective, the L3′s resolution is comparable to the one of 1st generation iPhone. Further, you also have to apply more pressure on L3 in order for it to record your touches correctly, indicating that the screen was the component that suffered the biggest cutbacks in order to reduce manufacturing costs.

Cutbacks can also be seen in the integrated 3.15 MP camera which comes with a fixed focus – a feature that will easily blur all your photos if you don’t pay extreme attention when taking them.

Overall, the LG Optimus L3 is a good phone for people that are new to Android and to smartphones but it’s clearly not an option for power users.
